Term 4 Nears an end!

Well!

The term has nearly passed us by and I have not added any new posts. How slack am I!

We have had our Athletics Day , which was awesome. Room 33 were really well behaved and had loads of fun.

We swam for 2 weeks at the Greerton Pools and our swimmers made some great progress.
And we walked despite rain most days on the way there and back.

Now we are starting to get ready for Christmas and the end of our first school year.
Too many busy children and activities and not enough hands means photos may not be a happening thing sorry. We will see how we go.

Also this term we have fare welled Fabian and welcomed back Sanjog and  Charlee.

Wow! Term 4

Here we are in Term 4 and we have an exciting 10 weeks ahead. We have lots to do like Athletics, Swimming, Christmas. We will be working hard to keep up with our Reading, Writing and Maths as well. Hopefully I will have time to post some of these exciting adventures with some pictures!

This Week.

Our sandwich making session was cut very short last week when a child was suddenly ill!
So, no time for photos or graph making I am afraid.

We have had a quieter week this week, focusing on our maths and testing.
Next week is the last week of term and I think we are all ready for the holiday.

Making Graphs

This week we have been learning about graphing information. We have created a few bar graphs as a class.
Later today we hope to make some sandwiches, following on from a graph we made yesterday about favourite sandwich fillings. If we get a chance we will take and post some photos.

We also had an awesome experience with ScienceBox this week, looking at skeletons.  If you get a chance ask your child about it.

Using the Light Box

Further to our Stained Glass Adventures we have been using a light box this week!
A big thank you to Mrs Harvey who lent us her light box and to Greenpark Preschool who lent us the translucent shapes.
We have really enjoyed this further extension to our area of interest. Here are a few pics.

                                      Jethro designs a pattern.

                                        Liam and Caleb work together.

                                          A symmetrical creation.

Drew works with a window template.

A work in progress.

Following a theme.

Our class looks great with all our beautiful Stained Glass Windows up.

As a further extension to this interest we made Stained Glass BISCUITS!

We were lucky to have a couple of parents come and help us. The biscuits looked amazing and were also delicious. Here are some pictures of the process that show how much we enjoyed the activity.

We would love you to come into class and see the windows for yourselves.

New Directions

Earlier this week the children viewed a picture of the Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch.
They wanted to know more about it so we went on a virtual tour.

The children were fascinated with the stained glass windows, as many had never seen anything like it before.
We looked at more pictures online and have decided to have a go at making some simple ones in the classroom.
We will keep you posted.
